Showcasing a perfect harmony between nature and architecture this half-acre property is filled with tactile earthy rocks, concrete-style surfaces, industrial timbers, and copper finishes. Absorbing much of its surrounds the rich story of The Park pays homage to the story of the land of as well as the history of Park Orchards and greater Melbourne.

With every detail in mind, The Park is an immersive experience. A bespoke half tonne copper front gate brings to life the local region covering rich history from when the Yarra River flowed through the orchards in the local area. It reflects the historical discovery of the Victorian Gold Rush, as well as vines that cover the scapes of the Yarra Valley region.

Upon entering The Park, the native garden represents the earthy elements from the Upper Yarra Ranges embodying an oasis of greenery. With carefully sourced flora the landscape transforms to resemble the changes of the outside environment, creating an ambiance well away from the street outside. Nestled in among the greenery is a wellness retreat at the front of the property featuring a sauna and bath carved from stone. 

The outside of the residence is coated in sustainably sourced timber battens. The darker, charred timber cladding of the bedroom wing is a tribute to Victoria’s significant bushfire history. The carefully curated colour palette changes moving towards the entrance of the home to represent regeneration of the forests from dark to light timbers.

Stepping inside this oasis, the monolithic structures of Melbourne’s CBD are represented in polished concrete floors, high ceilings with concrete and stone cladding. The vast city skyline represented as the kitchen space features highly reflective designed cabinetry, and a custom-made copper rangehood. The natural texture and beauty of the stone benchtops bring back the warmth of nature.  This sophisticated space also features a cellar with a tasting room, as well as an impressive mezzanine whiskey bar.

The undeniable highlight of The Park is river that flows through the centre of the retreat. Replicating sections of the nearby Yarra River, the river is home to a sustainable environment of vast species of fish, frogs and turtles.

With hidden doorways to intimate spaces and bedrooms designed to capture the morning sun, this contemporary retreat is a hidden oasis breaking the boundaries combining nature and architecture.
